THE GARDEN DESIGN PROCESS
Introduction
The design process begins with a visit to site and a conversation with the client about what they are looking for. We discuss possibilities, options and I can give clients some idea about what garden elements might cost.
Analysis
The site is surveyed and analysed thoroughly to establish opportunities and constraints. If the site is small I can carry out the survey myself, whereas a larger or more complex site might require a full topographic survey.
An in-depth conversation (or two!) will be captured and turned into a written brief which is then agreed by the client.
Drawings
Sketch drawings are produced and then discussed with the client. Once the client is happy, a final concept plan is produced, along with setting out drawings to communicate construction information. I also produce a scope of work to aid contractors with their construction quotes.
Construction
I work with homeowners to help them to find the right landscaper for the job. I offer project monitoring so that clients can be reassured and supported throughout the build process.
Planting plans
An excellent knowledge of plants comes into play, to create plans where plants are perfectly chosen for each spot. Form, texture and colour are all carefully considered to create beautiful planting schemes.
Planting
I work with clients to get schemes planted up. I specify and source plants and then can take the lead on planting them. It's critical to me that care and attention to detail go into planting, in order that plants thrive in their environment.
