Tiny garden

This pocket garden in the conservation area combines structure and softness, affording the homeowners a lovely view from the large windows all year round. In this small space, the patio feels generous and allows for more than one zone in which to sit. Combining different materials offers interest, whilst remaining practical and easy to maintain.

The clay pavers and painted fences provide a calm backdrop for vibrant planting, focussed on form and foliage, providing year round interest, whilst being as low-maintenance as possible.

The industrial-style detailing of the aluminium windows and steps down are echoed in the darker colours of the pavers and paint, producing a contemporary and vibrant garden space. Small trees have been chosen to provide shelter from neighbouring windows.

Lighting provides warmth and interest as well as helping to navigate the steps and pathway after dark. Lighting was also chosen to enhance the view out of the windows once the sun has set, providing a deeper field of view from the back of the house.
