Country Garden Design, Tring
The new design for this large country garden called for a large new entertaining space where the clients could entertain their family and friends.
Previously the patio was too narrow and not in proportion for such a generous house. The barn to the side was also close to the patio, yet not connected in any way.
The new design utilised an existing large planting bed and brought it into the seating area. The diagonal design gives interest and appeal to an otherwise rectangular garden, and means that the dining area remains near the kitchen, but the lounging area is connected, but zoned so it is a special space of its own.
Generous, wide planting beds give the client the ability to make planting the star of the show on the patio. She wanted to use her great plant knowledge to give a wow factor to the space, using evergreens for structure and perennials for a fabulous colourful display.
Wide steps down to the lounging area and beautiful lush planting invite comfortable seating after dinner. A large area bounded within enclosed planting means that the space is welcoming for small or large numbers.
The huge garden needed a light touch to create zones and areas, to create interest and invite exploration
