Narrow Garden
My clients had just finished their kitchen extension and wanted a more interesting aspect from their large patio doors. The existing garden had planting too far from the house, so new steps and planting areas were created. A new planting design included soft and billowing planting to surround the patio and could be seen from the windows all year round.
They also wanted some play space and equipment for youngsters, so a simple frame and swings were installed.
The clients wanted colour and scent in the Spring and Summer. I chose planting that would attract pollinators and encourage wildlife, in line with my belief that all garden design has a role to play in biodiversity and sustainability.
A new gazebo was created attached to the garden room in order to make more use of the space at the end of the garden. Screening creates an improved view and a sense of enclosure. The feature paving zones the space, creating a cosy corner for friends and family to gather, eat and drink together.
